Gum Disease Treatment

Scaling and Root Planing is a conservative, non-surgical treatment of gum disease. It is a deep cleaning of the gums and teeth to scrape off plaque and tartar. This is followed by root planing to smooth away the roughness on the tooth roots and prevent the future accumulation of bacteria. Anesthesia is used during the procedure to help prevent discomfort. Once the gums heal after the procedure, they will reattach to the clean, healthy surfaces of the teeth.

We will evaluate the health of your teeth after the procedure, and if the gum tissues do not fit around the tooth like they should, then we may recommend a Periodontist (gum specialist).
