Tooth-colored fillings are made from a blend of plastic resins and silica fillers, called composite. This material has many qualities of the natural tooth structure, such as translucency and resistance to wear. Before placing a filling, we will numb the area and prepare the tooth by removing any decay. The filling material is then placed on the tooth and bonded to the tooth structure. Tooth-colored fillings work well for most small-to-medium sized restorations and make the tooth structure resistant to fracture and the pressure of chewing.
